Queen Anne’s County Welcomes Coastal Partners to Showcase Conservation Efforts

Queen Anne’s County officials welcomed representatives from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Coastal States Organization, and federal congressional offices for a coastal site tour at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) and Ferry Point Park.

The tour, organized by DNR’s Watershed and Climate Services Unit in partnership with the Coastal States Organization, highlighted ongoing restoration and conservation projects supported through the Coastal Zone Management Program.

“We are proud to showcase the meaningful impact that federal and state investment is having here in Queen Anne’s County,” said County Commissioner Jim Moran. “Collaboration like this makes a difference. The projects at CBEC and Ferry Point Park not only protect our environment but also enhance public access and protect our natural resources.”

The event featured restoration work at Marshy Creek, including shoreline stabilization and marsh enhancement efforts. Attendees also visited Ferry Point Park to hear about previous work done and plans for long-term strategies to manage coastal erosion at Ferry Point Park.

The site visit included staff from Senator Van Hollen and Senator Alsobrooks’ offices, members of the Senate Appropriations and House Natural Resources Committees, and representatives from Queen Anne’s County Department of Parks & Recreation and the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center.
